Gospel Brunch – Music News

In Music

The Blues Kitchen Shoreditch has been priding itself on its musical offerings since its inception now with the launch of ‘Gospel Brunch’, Sunday’s will never look the same again.

I can vouch for the bottomless brunch, which comes with an inexhustable supply of prosecco or Virgin Mary’s (or Bloody) and Mimosa’s if those are more to your taste. After a couple of drinks, the BK house choir kicked into gear and the spirit of the Lord was truly amongst us with the six-piece band playing a concoction of classic gospel, Sixties and Seventies soul.

The American style décor lends itself to this style of music and with Leadbelly and Muddy Waters starring back at us from the huge wall paintings, the mid-West was closer to us than ever. The two female singers certainly added to the experience, booming voices and waving hands drawing the congregation to their feet in joyful celebration. The unlimited refills for two hours from just £19.95 may also have helped the cause. The food continues the American theme with fry ups, buttermilk pancakes, creole crab benedict, an array of burgers and many more options available.

The band earn their free lunch (I hope) with a 3 hour set, that lifted our spirits to within touching distance of the purely white gates themselves. With amazingly attentive staff on hand to cater for your every need I’m sure the Lord himself would approve of this spiritual Sunday celebration. Blues Kitchen Shoreditch may just become my new church.

Gospel Brunch is every Sunday from 3pm. Check out the food menus here. Free Entry. Open until 11:30pm.
